My cousin Susie bid on a Debby Ware kit for a baby beret. Susie doesn’t knit, so she asked me to knit this up for her little granddaughter, just four weeks old this week. This is the same baby for whom I made the Autumn Apple Baby Sweater
Most of this hat was knit during the Brewer’s Festival. I’m lucky the gauge came out even. I didn’t like how the increases looked, so I used yarn overs instead. I decided it would be a design element.
The pattern called for French knots inside the white crocheted circles, but i just couldn’t get them to stay with the slippery cotton. Instead I made little crocheted bobbles and it worked.
