Ruined.
One of my favorite sweaters had a blackish smear on the sleeve, I have no idea what, but it looked like grease of some kind. I took it to the dry cleaners. When I got it back it had some weird stains I hadn’t seen before.
Worse still, it had definitely shrunk and the yarn, a drapey blend of silk, rayon, cotton and linen, had harshened. I don’t know what they did to my sweater but it is ruined.
Recourse? None I can imagine. It’s not replaceable unless I want to reknit it. I have no idea where I could ever find the yarn again.
I’ve taken this sweater to these same dry cleaners before and they did a great job on it. I don’t know what happened this time.

It’s the blackness from your black sash spiritually staining your clothes. Grasshopper.
