Technically a fisherman’s cap doesn’t have a pom-pon, but for little fishermen less than one year old, aunties reserve the right to add pom-pons.
This little hat is knit on 4mm needles; in stockinette the gauge would be too loose, but in brioche stitch the looser gauge is desirable to produce a soft, fluffy rib.
