We went out for dinner last Friday night. My search for a Flaming Green Lizard (chartreuse with a 151 float, flamed) led us to El Gaucho.
The first bottle of wine we tried, a shiraz, looked promising. The color was a deep purple and the bouquet was enticing. The promise, alas, fell flat. The flavor was a bit dull and the wine had no staying power.
Our next bottle, a cabernet sauvignon, more than made up for the initial disappointment. It was big, bold and complex, dancing on the tongue. It was also bloody expensive.
I don’t know that I’d say it was worth it, but it was a damn fine bottle of wine. I finished it off tonight.
