I’m in the midst of the annual Christmas cookie marathon. Today is bourbon balls and wagon wheels. Tomorrow is spritz and lemon stars are for Sunday.
I am disappointed in the wagon wheels this year. They puffed up like little puff balls instead of puffing up then spreading out. And they taste bland. I experimented with convection versus regular oven but that didn’t make much of a difference. I used the same recipe as in year’s past. E agreed that they weren’t as good as before.
I reviewed the recipe and realized my mistake: I forgot the salt. Salt makes chocolate come alive.
So if I give you cookies, you might want to skip the wagon wheels. I’m just saying.
