Half a paycheck later the little Saturn is running much smoother and quieter. I’ve now got a brand new alternator, which ensures, at least for now, that my battery won’t run down, leaving me stranded God knows where.
The little Saturn has 115,000 miles on it. I’ve been very good about changing the oil every 3,000 miles. There’s no reason why it can’t keep going for many miles more. It will just cost money as more expensive bits and pieces (like alternators) need replacement.
E has been wanting to get a PT Cruiser. He thinks that would be a good car for me. But I come from frugal people and am disinclined to buy a new car until I’ve run the old one completely into the ground. Which might happen in another 100,000 miles if I take good care of this one.
