Ice ice baby.
It is slicker than something nasty on a doorknob out there.
We’ve been warned about this all week: snow, freezing rain etc etc. Predicted to begin at midnight this morning.
This morning I woke up, looked outside and saw nada. I thought, I could still go to kung fu, or maybe shopping. Then I walked out my front door to pick up the morning Snoregonian.
Our driveway was an ice rink. A sloping ice rink.
Okay, I am going nowhere. Except we had a wedding to attend. Luckily, E’s good friend Tom had offered to pick us up. We took him up on the offer. Tom is experienced at driving in hazardous conditions. Plus he has the four-by rig, the snow tires and the adolescent recklessness necessary to get us from point A to point B.
We made it to the church on time.

I like Tom already.

Ha! We must both have fond memories of Vanilla Ice.

I empathize, sort of. We got the ice two weeks ago...a great frustration to us northerners who are used to real snow in January, not ice. Then we got 20 inches of snow...happy day. But now, no playing. It has been below zero for 92 straight hours. It was 40 below here this morning...air temp, not wind chill. A few miles farther north, it was 54 below. I've done a lot of knitting over the last four days...
