This week I quit my job and it felt great.
For a year-and-a-half or so I’ve been a temporary on-call employee doing print production at an ad agency (really a overgrown design boutique, but they want to think they’re an agency). The job had become very regular and I had fallen into a rut. I am burnt out on production art. I needed to break free.
What am I going to do? My standard answer is lay around and watch “Law and Order” re-runs. Actually, I’ll be able to concentrate on my other freelance projects and devote time and energy to securing an Information Architect position. Do some consulting.
So what do I immediately do when I quit a job? Go shopping! I bought a bunch of books, used or discount. And I went clothes shopping, to find a dress to wear to a wedding next month. I found the best deal for a casual dress: a Tommy Hilfiger jersey dress for $1.50 at Ross Dress for Less. It’s bright red with a white collar. It looks like Little Orphan Annie.
